New York Mets The Mets put the catcher James McCann on the 10-day injured list on Sunday due to an

oblique strain in his left. McCann was injured while trying to apply an ice-cube within the sixth innings in

New York's 5-4 win against the Miami Marlins on Saturday. The Mets had better news for the outfielder

Starling Marte. He was forced to leave at the end of the game on the fourth inning due to left groin tightness

but isn't likely to be placed onto the IL. Marte did not play on Sunday with the Marlins and told an interpreter

the results of his MRI "came out perfectly with a minor inflammation." He claimed he'd been experiencing

discomfort in his groin several days prior to getting out of the game on Saturday. Mets director Buck Showalter

said Sunday after the Mets losing 2-0 against Marlins Marlins after 10 innings Marte is a day-to-day player

and hopes that the outfielder will be back in the lineup soon. The second time in the injury list for McCann

who needed surgery for his injured left hamate. He was on the list for an injury-related list of six weeks.
