St Louis Blues The NHL Draft and the free-agent period drew near the deadline, it seemed like certain that the
Blues were in danger of losing goalie Ville Husso. He was likely to leave the Blues as a free agent with no restrictions. So
Husso will be heading somewhere else, to Detroit to be precisehowever, the Blues will get something in exchange.
In the early hours of Friday, the Blues announced they would be selling Husso with the Red Wings in exchange for
the number. overall pick which was a third-rounderfrom this year's draft. The Red Wings have signed Husso to a three
year $4.75 million deal, as per numerous reports. In the beginning, Husso was expected to earn upwards of
$4 million per year when he hit the market for free-agents and was too much for the Blues as there is already $6 million
per year of investment into Jordan Binnington. Thus, getting a third-rounder to Husso was a smart decision by the
general manager Doug Armstrong and the Blues who would've received nothing if Husso made it to on the
market as a non-free agents on Wednesday. For Detroit to get Husso prior to him reaching the market, for the price of one draft selection.
