The 2023 World Baseball Classic will be held in four cities: Taichung, Tokyo and Phoenix. On Thursday, the World
Baseball Classic announced the venues and dates for the tournament. WBC 2023 will begin with pool play in Taiwan
and Japan on March 8, and will conclude with the championship game at Miami's loanDepot park on March 21.
The United States will be the defending champion, having won the 2017 Classic. They will face Mexico, Colombia
Canada and another team from the 2022 WBC Qualifiers. The runner-up Puerto Rico will face the 2013 champion
Dominican Republic. They will be against Israel, Venezuela, Israel, and a Qualifier Winner. Japan, the two-time World
Baseball Classic champion, will be in Pool B at Tokyo Dome. Tokyo Dome has served as a host stadium for all
four Classics. WBC 2023 will have 20 teams, including the 16 teams from 2017 and four Qualifiers teams. The 2022
Qualifiers will decide the fifth team from each pool before WBC 2023 starts. From Sept. 16-21, the Qualifiers will
take place at Armin-Wolf-Arena, Regensburg, Germany and Rod Carew National Stadium, Panama City, Panama from Sept.
